Summer weekends
This weekend was another weekend full of riding. It feels so good to be back in the saddle!
Saturday Husband and I took the boys out for a bush ride. They were both super, Henry bravely crossing the bridge first with no dramas and we all enjoyed the ride. After the rain we had early last week the creeks were flowing and so I had a go at negotiating a creek crossing on Henry. He was NOT HAPPY about it at all, even when Coolie showed him how it was done. Eventually I got off and led him over and after that it was no big deal.
When we got home Husband had a trot and canter on Coolie in the paddock. Coolie was less than happy with that as he thought he was done for the day. Henry was a bit confused as to why there was a second horse being ridden in the paddock but after a few seconds worked like normal. He really didn't like Coolie leaving the paddock after that but again worked through it.
Sunday my friend came out for a ride. This ride was another challenging one for Henry. He had to stand while we chatted with a neighbour for a while. Then on our way back we met a group of horses for the first time. He was very concerned about them, but kept himself together while we chatted to them and remained calm when we continued in our separate directions.
I also set the jumps up in the paddock, and the new ones look amazing. I can't wait to jump them later this week.
