Another weekend has flown by, they never seem long enough! I thought that not competing as much would give us so much more time but I'm finding life just as hectic. The list of chores never seems to get shorter! The garden looks nicer after this weekend though.
Anyway, yesterday saw us clocking up some more k's in the bush. Both horses need the hill conditioning and the weather was so perfect it was an ideal day to go. We went up to a place called Whistlepipe Gully, somewhere Henry has never been before. It's a tricky ride with some very steep hills and rocky terrain and a high chance of running into bush walkers and their dogs (the dogs usually freak way out because OMG massive dog!). Basically Hen wasn't ready to go out that way until recently.
We picked a good day because there weren't many people out and about, and not many dogs. It always amuses me how people are so unobservative, not paying attention to their surroundings at all, and not noticing us until we are nearly on top of them. Weird!
Henry of course didn't put a foot out of line, carefully picking his way up and down the hills and over some crazy rocks. He even crossed a creek with no issues at all which is amazing because in the past he wouldn't have gone near it.
Today was jumping day. I feel like we have plateaued a bit in jumping too, nothing bad but just not as much progress as in the past. He needs to build more strength. It will all come in time. I need to start jumping more regularly and do a bit of grid work. All our hill walking should help too.
We spectated the XC at a local event and I really missed being out there. I felt weirdly seperate and out of the loop. I can't wait to get back into it all.
We have another busy week this week, with a lesson on Tuesday then prepping for a very exciting outing on Sunday. I re-clipped Henry in anticipation. I can't believe how hair he's gotten in the last 4 weeks!

Those pictures from the bush are gorgeous - what a great ride!
