Kellerberrin count down

Only 3 more sleeps to go until Kellerberrin! This week is all about the final details. After my lesson last week, both the horses had a physio session, so that they feel tip top.

Eventing dog helps with show jump practice!
Monday was a bush day, where we do hill work and trot sessions, with canter thrown in for Coolie. I find variety keeps both the horses interested in what they do. Riding in the bush also means they are comfortable going away from home, and in difficult terrain.

The apex got lots of air, but she was straight
Yesterday was a flatwork session. We worked on what we went over in our lesson last week, really getting Dakota to stretch and relax through her poll and jaw. She was way more consistent than normal, but not quite as good as in our lesson. But progress none the less!

Tonight we jumped, training for both xc and sj. I set up an apex, along with 2 uprights on a curving line, and a third upright to allow for a course feel. This got her thinking and hopefully will help on the weekend! I love putting in a curved line. It really highlights control and accuracy, and it challenged us. She nailed the apex every single time, and was very straight to the fences.

We finished off the session with popping the fences up to 90, to make 80 feel like a breeze.

Tomorrow Dakota will have a day off, and Coolie will be work. On Friday the saddle fitter is coming, then one last ride before we head off. Kellerberrin in about 2 hours from Perth, so we are heading up Friday to spend extra time with my Grandma and to get settled in.
