WASJA

We have had a very busy weekend this weekend, possibly one of the last for a while since the corona virus is starting to take over here too. Not that our government are providing any leadership of guidance, but thats another things all together!

Friday I had a flat lesson on Friday and we went XC training Saturday. It was awesome but those are two other posts entirely. This one is all about Coolie! He reckons it's about time he got blogged about since he's the best orange pony ever.

This year Coolie and I have signed up for membership for the Western Australia Show Jumping Association (WASJA). So that means we get early entry codes and discounted show jumping rounds at tall the WASJA shows across the year. This weekend was the first show of the season so Coolie and I entered the 60cm, 70cm and 80cm.

We were up early since the 60 was the second class of the day. We started low since it's been a while since Coolie and I went out and about. We don't need to do 60 again now, it was too small! Our round was lovely and smooth, and Coolie was nice and relaxed and didn't rush. We were clear and nice and close to the optimum time, and came second. We got a ribbon, and prize money which was very exciting.

Our second round at 70 was also great, still smooth and a touch faster to come in 5th. More prize money and another ribbon! We did have a couple of communication errors through the course but nothing terrible and Coolie was being very polite in this normal snaffle.

Our final round wasn't nearly as smooth, the bigger jumps saw Coolie rushing a bit, I held too much at one jump and we tapped a rail. He was jumping amazingly but he did his favourite trick of adding a half stride at the last minute. I really need to work on this more, he's been super at home but I think he is either less confident out or gets more excited in a competition environment.

Our rail saw us out of the lacings so we could pack up and be home it time for lunch. I love how quick and easy show jumping is, plus the good prize money helps too. It was a really fun day, and it gave me a good feel of where Coolie and I need more work. I feel like there are some show jumping lessons in our future!
