Patrons Cup

After 12 months of slacking off being a free loader Coolie got to go to a competition. Not sure he was overly thrilled by the idea however I do think he enjoyed himself jumping. I have every other Friday off at the moment and this is a 3 day show, but we will be away for the weekend. Friday however worked perfectly.

We had a very early start, first horse on course at 7.30. Thankfully we didn't have to go far but I'm not sure the boys appreciated their early wake up call. Coolie was very on his toes when I unloaded but soon realise that eating is a much better way to pass the time.

I hopped on with plenty of time to warm up, wanting to take my time and make sure that Coolie was relaxed and not too full of himself. He was very jolly but kept himself together and was enjoying being out and about.

Our first round was a little rusty but felt good and we jumped clear and very close to optimum time. I was one of the last riders to go so didn't have to wait long for the results. We were close enough for third! Very exciting, we got a fancy rosette, a voucher and got to do a lap of honour. Coolie thought it was a race though.

Our second round was FANTASTIC. We clicked into gear and we were off. Every jump came up well, we were forward, fast and clear. It was so much fun. Our jump off was super, we went up a gear and were fast, but sadly just tipped a rail putting us out of the placings.

Overall we had a super morning, it was so great to be out there with my main orange pony. It was nice to know we can pick up right where we left off. Next year I am planning do more show jumping and I am really looking forward to it!
